Description

Each year, in the heart of winter, Jews in the Northern Hemisphere light a candle — and then another. For eight nights, we gather around small flames and remember an ancient story from the kingdom of Judah: how a small group of priests, the Maccabees, rose up against a mighty empire; how the Temple in Jerusalem was reclaimed and rededicated; how a single cruse of oil, thought to be insignificant, burned beyond all expectation. But what if Chanukah is not only a story about then? What if it is also a story about now? The Chasidic master Kedushat Levi teaches that Chanukah is not merely a commemoration of a past miracle. It is a season in which miracles renew themselves — a time when hidden light becomes visible again, when what seemed exhausted reveals new possibility. Chanukah invites us to ask: Where is the oil still burning in our lives? Where is there light we have forgotten to notice? What might be rekindled? This year, more than ever, we are called to remember our own inner flame — and to trust that even the smallest light, kindled with care, can push back great darkness. Join us for a special gathering of Jewish meditation, learning, reflection, and sharing as we explore the deeper meaning of Chanukah together. ********** TUITION: In addition to the registration costs, participants will be invited to give terumah -voluntary offering - for the teachings, at the end of the session, at this link: https://www.miraneshama.com/payments Participants to MJM December are automatically registered to the mini retreat.
