Meditation
Meditators make the world a better place
MJM (Mussar & Jewish Meditation) is a Jewish Meditation and Mussar program aiming at helping you cultivate a regular contemplative and self-growth practice in a daily basis.
The Indigenous Jewish Meditation technique we practice is called: Hashkata (quieting). It was taught by the Hassidic Piaseczno Rebbe, the last Rabbi of the Warsaw Ghetto.
It is a three parts meditation, comprising:
1. Quieting the mind, simply by watching our thoughts.
2. Working on our character traits (tikkun midot) through a word repetition practice.
3. Sealing/activating our intention by singing a nigun on Psalm 86.11.
This simple spiritual discipline can help us reconnect to our true nature and live in harmony with ourselves and others.
Each Sunday in our Plenary Session, we reflect on a teaching from a Mussar (Ethical discipline) text.
This program will provide you :
-
A framework to discover or deepen your knowledge in Hassidout and Moussar
-
Guidance in your Jewish meditation practice
-
A practical practice to (re)discover the teachings of the Aish Kodesh
-
Instructions for applying Jewish ethics in everyday life
-
The support of a community of practice, and direct contact with the teacher
